Preferred-source entry check
active
engine
A page that never says “I am the original” leaves the decision to whoever copies it first.
What it checks
The page must expose the preferred-source entry marker — the on-page signal that pairs with the structured declaration from the radar entry. The checker looks for the marker on entry and article templates, then confirms it agrees with the page canonical.
Pass conditions
- Entry marker present on pages that act as canonical originals.
- Marker target matches the page’s own canonical — a marker pointing elsewhere is a fail, not a pass.
- No marker on pure aggregation pages, where declaring originality would be false.
Typical fails
Markers dropped during redesigns that rebuild templates from scratch; markers copied verbatim onto translated pages where they point at the wrong locale; declarations without a matching entry marker, leaving the signal half-built.
Fix checklist
- Put the marker in the shared article template, not per page — coverage should be automatic.
- Assert marker and canonical agree in the same audit run, not in two different tools.
- Until the backing rule is approved, findings stay
