Site-name consistency check

active
engine

Three names for one site across three pages reads as three different sites. Pick one and hold it everywhere.

What it checks

The Organization name declared in structured data is compared against the site name carried in page titles. Both must exist, and they must agree — branding drift between the two fails the page.

Pass conditions

  • An Organization name exists and is identical on every audited page.
  • Page titles carry the same site name in a stable position — prefix or suffix, but never both across pages.
  • Rebrands update structured data and titles in the same deploy, not in two.

Typical fails

Marketing pages titled with the campaign name while docs keep the company name; legal-entity renames applied to the footer but not the JSON-LD; staging titles (“[Staging] …”) leaking into production crawls.

Fix checklist

  • Single-source the site name: one constant feeding titles, JSON-LD, and the logo alt.
  • Freeze the title pattern (Page · Site or Site · Page) and lint for deviations.
  • After any rename, run one audit before announcing it anywhere.
